IMPORTANT NEWS ABOUT THE BROAD STREET BRIDGE PROJECT IN
DOWNTOWN TAMAQUA
We have received confirmation from PennDOT that the Broad Street Bridge (SR 209) will not close before Memorial Day as previously stated. Closure of the bridge has been postponed until Tuesday, May 28. According to PennDOT, the detour route will go into effect and the bridge construction will begin on that day.
Once construction begins the bridge will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic for up to 18 months. The anticipated completion date is November 21, 2014.
Temporary parking and traffic restrictions will be in place on various streets during the construction. The bridge contractor will install signs on state and local roads advising drivers of these changes. Modifications will also be made to the traffic signals at the intersections of Broad and Greenwood streets and Center and Cedar streets to accommodate changes in traffic patterns. Should you have any questions, please contact Kevin A. Steigerwalt at (570)668-3444 for more info.
